Events & Places

In the footsteps of Gaudí

No trip to Barcelona would be complete without a visit to the famous La Sagrada Familia. But this cathedral is only one of many Gaudí's architectural marvels to be seen in and around Barcelona.

Las Ramblas

Cutting through the very heart of the city, this 1.2km (mostly) pedestrian boulevard is packed day and night, as visitors meander their way along the promenade, soaking in the atmosphere and enjoying the spectacle.

Fundació Joan Miró

Created by Miró himself, this museum of modern art not only features works by the artist, but also pieces from his private collection. Located on Montjuïc, here, the artist’s work coexists with cutting-edge contemporary art.

Museu Picasso

Home to one of the most extensive collections of works by 20th century Spanish artist Pablo Picasso – there are more than 4,200 pieces on display here – the museum is also said to reveal the artist’s relationship with Barcelona itself.

Grec Festival

From mid-June to early August, arguably the most highbrow of Barcelona’s festivals takes centre stage. Featuring theatre, dance, music and more, it is all set in sensational venues across the city, including the eponymous Grec Teatre, built in 1929.

Barcelona Carnival

Barcelona’s vibrant Carnival festival continues to grow in popularity every year. Taking place every year in the days leading up to Lent, it culminates with a grand parade full of costumed revelers, floats and fireworks.

For Kids

Camp Nou

Football fans of all ages will delight at a tour of this iconic stadium in Barcelona. Wander the grounds and learn the history of one of the world's most famous clubs.

Park Güell

This UNESCO-listed city park is yet another Gaudí creation that is both strange and enchanting. Spend an afternoon exploring this enchanting place, taking in the city views and posing for a pic next to the mosaic lizard that guards the entrance.

L’Aquarium Barcelona

Located in Port Vell, the Aquarium features 66 tanks that are home to 11,000 animals. The most spectacular of all is the immense Oceanarium, which features a transparent 80m-long tunnel that allows you to walk among sharks, morays and more.

The City Beaches

Get away from the city for a day, without having to leave the city – just head to the beach and enjoy the golden sands and 300 days of sunshine. Buzzing with a carnival atmosphere year round, it’s a fun escape for the whole family.

Montjuïc cable car

For breathtaking views of the city and the sea, head up Montjuïc – Barcelona’s historic mountain – by cable car. Hop aboard the funicular at Paral lel metro station and relax as you glide above the treetops.
