A golfers’ paradise thanks to the ideal climate and wide array of choice, most of the courses here are located in protected areas and offer stunning views. Offering varying degrees of difficulty, there’s a course here for every player.
Available in abundance through the region, for a truly local culinary experience head to the food market in Olhão, a fishing village that has traded in seafood since the Middle Ages. The 80+ stalls are crammed with the freshest catch of the day.
One of the largest sand sculpture festivals in the world, more than 50 artists compete, creating 12m high sculptures using some 40,000 tons of sand. During the night, the entire area is illuminated.

This sandy island is 11km long and is considered to be one of the best beaches in the entire Algarve region (it has a Blue Flag designation). This island is part of the Ria Formosa Natural Reserve, a popular spot for a variety of birds.
The most southwesterly point of Europe, it is a place that, at one time, was thought to be the literal end of the world. Wind-blasted and storm-pounded, the cliffs here rise 60m from the sea. It is home to one of Europe’s brightest lighthouses.
The Algarve is known for its many beautiful beaches. Some of the most popular, family-friendly ones include Praia do Barril, Praia da Mantarrota, Praia do Ancao, Praia da Fuseta, and Praia da Rocha.
There are lots of options here – check out Aquashow, Slide & Splash or Aqualand for a variety of attractions and slides. Zoomarine also has water attractions, in addition to its various animal and theatre shows.
This is a great way to explore the beautiful Algarve coast. Along with exploring the many caves and secluded beaches, you may also glimpse a pod of wild dolphins swimming by.
