Playa del Carmen

This European-influenced seaside town is where you want to go for shopping, dining and nightlife in the area. Peruse the shops, cafés and boutiques that line ‘Fifth Avenue’ or dance the night away at one of the many clubs.

Snorkel with Turtles

An amazing experience as you snorkel along the Mesoamerican coral reef (the 2nd largest in the world), watch schools of more than 50 different species of fish swim by, see rays float beside you, and, if you’re lucky, swim alongside the sea turtles.

Chichen Itza

For archaeology buffs, a trip here is a must. This was one of the Maya’s largest cities and the famed Kukulkan Pyramid is one of the new 7 wonders of the world. Visit during March or Sept. to take part in the Spring & Autumn Equinox Festivals.

Cozumel

A 45-min ferry ride from Playa del Carmen, this little island packs a big punch. Take a day and visit Stingray Beach, Chankanaab National Park, the ruins of El Cedral and San Gervasio, and the shops, restaurants and bars in the town of San Miguel.

Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve

Head here to get a close-up look at the thousands of species of flora and fauna indigenous to the region. An area of astounding natural beauty, this UNESCO site is located in Tulum in the largest protected area in the Mexican Caribbean.

For Kids

Xel-Hal Park

Located in a natural inlet, this is a giant open-air aquarium that you are invited to jump in and experience close up. Great snorkeling, a lazy river, an underwater Sea Trek, and more. There’s also zip lining when you need to dry off.

Hidden World Cenote Park

Exciting, fun-filled and family-friendly, this adventure park offers diving and snorkeling for all ages and experience levels as you explore the fascinating world of cenotes - underground caverns and waterways considered sacred to the Maya.

Xcaret Park

This eco-park is home to 40 attractions ranging from cultural celebrations to aquatic adventures. A great day trip, no matter one’s age, you can go on a snorkeling tour, take part in a traditional Mayan ball game, explore underground rivers and more.

CrocoCun Zoo

This is a hands-on experience the kids won’t soon forget! Get up close and interact with jungle animals and reptiles. Local guides will provide information and opportunity for visitors to hold snakes, pet crocodiles and chat with birds.

Tulum Ruins

This archeological site is one of the only ancient Maya ruins to overlook the ocean. Take a guided tour and discover the fascinating history of both the site and the culture, and then wander the cliff-side walkways or head down to the beach.
