Events & Places

Encore du Vin

Immerse yourself in the incredibly varied world of Burgundy wines. Tour some of the most famous wine producing regions in the world. Don't forget to visit some of the lesser known vineyards as well. You may discover your own "glass of heaven".

The Pages of History

Ancient abbeys and castles dot the countryside of Burgundy. Not to be missed is Cluny, The Basilica Vezelay and Hospices de Beaune. With such a long and varied history, ancient marvels await around every corner.

Take to the Water

With such a variety of waterways flowing lazily through Burgundy, why not come aboard? Take a tour or rent your own floating "hotel" and see the region from a totally new perspective. The most popular is the winding and serene Burgundy Canal.

Dijon

For centuries Dijon was such an important seat of power that royalty lavished upon it beautiful architecture. Full of the finest shops, museums and points of interest, Dijon is a delight for all the senses. Bring your appetite!

Bid on Wine

Ready to take some of your favourite wine home? If you happen to be in Beaune on the third Sunday in November at The Hospices, you can bid on some of the region's finest wines. The auction is attended by connoisseurs from around the world.

Musicales en Auxois

Every year during the first two weeks of August, Baroque music lovers descend on Semur en Auxois to enjoy performances honouring such greats as Handell and Bach. Hosted at various venues, this festival blends opera with the region's heritage.

For Kids

The Morvan Lakes

This National Park is the perfect family spot to enjoy activities such as horseback riding, sailing or hiking. Enjoy the "wild" side of Burgundy.

Take to the Streets

In Chalon-sur-Saone during the third week of July, thousands of performers gather for The Chalon dans La Rue. The festival is free and includes theatre, dance, circus acts and just about anything else you can think of. Come early as this giant "playground" attracts over 200,000 fun seekers!

Castle Construction

It is impossible to visit a castle of the Middle Ages and not wonder how it was constructed. In Guedelon you can see for yourself. In 1997, archeologists started constructing a castle using period methods and local materials. A journey back in time like no other!

Walk With Cavemen

The Solutre Rock rises above the vineyards and stands like a monument over Solutre-Pouilly. On a clear day you can see The Alps from the summit. At it's base are prehistoric paintings as old as 50,000 years. In the museum you'll learn how these nomadic hunters lived.
