Rincon de la Vieja National Park

Stretching over 34,000 acres, this park is home to 2 coastlines, 2 volcanoes, 32 rivers and streams and an incredible array of flora and fauna. Activity abounds here – go hiking, horseback riding, enjoy hot springs, and much more.

La Fortuna Waterfall

Located in central Costa Rica, this 200-foot waterfall is a great place to explore. The falls emerge from thick jungle before plummeting into an emerald green pool below. If you’re feeling adventurous, go for a swim!

Playas del Coco

One of the oldest beach communities, it is also one of the fastest growing areas of tourism. If you are looking to mix and mingle, enjoy parties at the beach, a variety of watersports, even some fishing, this is the town for you.

Jaco Beach

The closest major beach town to San José, this surfer hangout is bustling day and night. With a seemingly endless list of activities available – from surf lessons and ATV tours, to catamaran cruises and sport fishing – this is a one-stop-shop.

National Theatre of Costa Rica

Located in central San José, this historic theatre first opened to the public in 1897. Today it is one of the city’s most popular attractions as people flock to see the lavish furnishings and beautiful murals.

Whitewater rafting

Go for a heart-pumping ride along the 13km Toro River, one of Costa Rica’s most thrilling rafting experiences. With big waves, technical rapids and continuous whitewater, these class 3 / 4 rapids also offer scenic views of Mt. Arenal.

For Kids

Tabacón Hot Springs

These are Costa Rica’s largest network of naturally flowing thermal mineral springs. Flanked by the Arenal Volcano at one end and the national park at the other, you’ll love the views and the kids will love the warm water!

Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve

This 35,089-acre reserve is home to over 100 species of mammals, 400 species of birds, and 1,200 species of amphibians and reptiles. Take a hike, go zip-lining, hope on a horse and more! There are also butterfly farms and insect museums here.

Manuel Antonio National Park

Though the smallest national park it has a great abundance of wildlife. There are hiking trails, viewpoints, and beautiful beaches, but the main attractions are the monkeys and sloths that call this place home.

Tortuguero National Park

The beaches at this park are famous nesting grounds for sea turtles, includes the endangered green turtles. The surrounding dense rainforest is also rich with wildlife, from monkeys and sloths to many different species of birds.

Zip line adventure

One of the most popular activities in Costa Rica, canopy zip line tours are found throughout the country, but the most popular are the ones close to the Arenal Volcano. At times you are flying some 40m above the rainforest!
