Corfu

With its lush interior, pristine coastline, picturesque villages with many luxury villas and beautiful beaches, it’s no surprise that this northernmost of the Ionian island chain, is also the most popular. Known as the Venetian jewel of the Ionian thanks to the Venetian architecture found in its oh-so-romantic capital city, Corfu – with its many restaurants, shops and bars – has a more cosmopolitan feel than its neighbours, while also offering plenty of natural wonders to enjoy.

Thanks to the island being under Venetian rule from the 14th century to the late 18th century, Venetian architecture can be found all over.

Along with much music and dancing, there’s a Great Parade that takes place, complete with people dressed in costume.

Whether or not that is true, it is still one of the most popular things to do on Corfu.

Mountain Biking around Corfu

When you want a break from the beautiful beaches and the romantic towns, renting a mountain bike to explore independently or on a tour is a great way to get off the beaten path and explore the interior of the island.

Beach Time

The western beaches of Glyfada and Pelekas are particularly child-friendly (and the picturesque village of Pelekas is also nice for a wander), while Avlaki beach in the north offers crystal clear and calm waters perfect for little ones.

Aqualand Water Park

Centrally located, this is one of the best water park in Europe. Offering all kids of water attractions, including multiple slides, pools and more, this place is expansive and great for both the young and young-at-heart.

Castling in Corfu

The island features numerous castles scattered throughout with 2 of the most interesting being the Old and New Fortresses that dominate the harbours in Corfu Town. The Byzantine-era Kassiopi Castle is also worth a visit.

Vidos Island

A 10-minute boat trip from Corfu Town will get you to the tiny island of Vidos where you can spend a day walk around, feeding the rabbits, marveling at the peacocks and swimming off the beach. A nice and easy trip especially for youngers kids.
