The Umbria Jazz Festival

Since 1973 the City of Perugia has hosted The Umbria Jazz Festival every July. Now a world renowned event, the festival is a must for music lovers and features some of the biggest names of the genre.

St. Francis of Assisi

Begun in 1228, The Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi is a beautiful example of Romanesque architecture. The church features frescoes by some of Italy's most famous artists and has been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Wine Tours

Travel one of the four official wine routes through Umbria and discover why the region is home to some of the best vineyards in the country. Don't forgot to include Tenute Lunelli Estate where you will be amazed at the renowned cellar designed by the famous artist Pomodoro.

Race of The Candles

Every May 15th since 1160 Gubbio has hosted the Corsa dei Ceri. Three teams, each representing a particular saint and carrying an enormous wooden candle, race from the town square to a nearby mountain top. Thousands line the route every year to cheer on the competitors and take part in the festivities that follow.

Marmone Waterfalls

After over-indulging in the gastronomic delights of Umbria, a trip to The Marmone Waterfalls may be the perfect excursion. Cycle or hike around the falls that tumble 165 meters to the lush valley below. Forested and serene, the area is the ultimate getaway.

Festival dei Due Mondi

For 60 years The Festival of the Two Worlds, in Spoleto, has become a popular event featuring opera, drama and dance. Fans crowd the streets to take in the vast array of performances that take place through June and early July.

Take a ceramics class and enjoy the clay! Some of the best classes are in Ficulle and Deruta and offer the chance to create, fire and paint your own work of art.

Visit the tranquil beaches and parks of Lake Transimeno. Bring a picnic lunch and rent canoes, kayaks or sailboats to explore the shoreline or visit an island.
