Events & Places

Zlatni Rat (Brač)

Croatia’s most photographed beach, it is often crowded but for good reason, it is a gorgeous stretch of smooth white pebbles with pine trees offering shade and rocky cliffs rising behind it. Easily one of the loveliest settings in Dalmatia.

Blaca Hermitage (Brač)

Located on the south end of the island, this started as a stone cave where a group of priests took shelter and was built out from there. You can take a 30-minute tour of the complex, which is full of original furniture, tools and rare manuscripts.

Hike up Vidova Gora Mountain (Brač)

The highest point on the Islands at 2280ft., the hike is a moderate one in terms of difficulty and takes approximately 3-5 hours to complete (14 miles roundtrip). The top offers amazing views the islands and down to Zlatni Rat beach.

A night out in Hvar Town (Hvar)

If you are looking to see or be seen, a night out at Hvar Town’s swanky hotels, elegant restaurants and legendary clubs and bars is just the ticket. Rub shoulders with the posh yachties and young partygoers and dance the night away.

Summer Music Festivals (Hvar)

Hvar Town plays hosts to the annual Ultra Europe Festival’s after party in the form of a 'VIP' Ultra Europe Beach Party (the main event is held in Split). Meanwhile, over in Sucuraj, the annual Tam Tam Festival takes place in August.

Visit Tito’s Cave (Vis)

During the war, Tito spent several months holed up here, planning attacks and devising strategies. The site, though poorly maintained and signposted, can be visited, either as part of a tour group or individually.

For Kids

Stiniva Beach (Vis)

One of the top beaches in Croatia, it is well hidden from the sea and to get there you either hike down to it or arrive by boat. The spectacular view, and calm waters, will reward you for your effort.

Fortica (Hvar)

Looming high above the town, this medieval castle offers magnificent views down over Hvar and the Pakleni Islands. Well worth the climb up through the old town streets, you can also drive to the very top.

Dragon’s Cave (Brač)

It takes about an hour to hike to this cave, located 3 miles west of Bol. Featuring reliefs believed to have been sculpted by an 15th-century friar, the carvings include angels, animals and a dragon. The cave can only be accessed on a guided tour.

Blue Cave (Vis)

Located on the island of Biševo, off Vis' southwestern tip, this coastal cave is one of the region's most famous natural sights. It’s best seen between 11am and noon, when the sun’s rays pass through an underwater opening.

Trg Sv Stjepana (Hvar)

Stretching from the harbour to the cathedral, this impressive square is one of the largest old squares in Dalmatia. The centre of the city’s public and social life, it is a lively and beautiful place to visit.
