Villa dei Cortili
Splendidly sited among the silver olive trees and verdant landscape of Chianti, this wonderful villa ensemble dates back to the Renaissance, through a long line of noble families and art patrons. Villa dei Cortili is one of three houses that make up a small hamlet at the heart of an estate that produces its own wine and olive oil, and offers a unique taste of the true pleasures of Tuscany. Its recent restoration honors the authentic Tuscan style, with choice antiques, contemporary design pieces, colorful paintings by local artists and family treasures in a setting of gleaming terracotta floors, lofty beamed ceilings and arched windows opening onto the surrounding gardens. From the driveway a large glass door opens into the spacious foyer, with a handsome marquetry table at its center. This leads through to a bright sitting area, the vaulted dining room and the kitchen.
There are also two bedrooms on a half floor off the kitchen, with the others being one floor above, along with two inviting and comfortable living rooms. In a quiet courtyard by the kitchen entrance you’ll find the perfect place for a morning coffee and a shaded pergola with a table for 14. All around the house the lush and heady gardens are full of delights, and a short stroll away is the pool area with a large sun terrace, the perfect place for relaxing among the fragrant roses and taking in the ambient sounds and smells. And as the day cools, why not take a stroll though the carefully maintained olive groves and vineyards that clothe the nearby hillsides.
Needless to say, within a few minutes’ drive of this wonderful property there are endless treats and treasures to be discovered, from villages where time has stood still, to the latest fun and fashions in the famous places headlined in the guidebooks. In a word, in this country villa you could not be better placed for discovering the countless culinary and cultural delights of this richly endowed part of Italy.
