Stylish country living within walking distance of Cortona
On a peaceful large estate near Cortona that produces its own wine and olive oil, Villa Grandi makes the perfect vacation home, whether you choose to relax on the property or explore the cultural and culinary riches of the area. Within its thick stone walls, the magnificent entry hall and other spacious, richly-colored rooms offer a touch of simple grandeur in true Italian style.
On one side of the lofty hall is a quiet studio with adjoining full bathroom, and opposite is the elegantly spare dining room with superb marble table. Beyond is the kitchen, compact but well supplied with all the essentials for culinary creativity. The stone staircase takes you up to another spacious sitting area with great views, and on either side are two bedrooms. Up again to the tower bedroom, for those who'll appreciate the panoramic vistas. All three bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms with showers and air conditioning.
The sense of space continues outdoors with a vast terrace overlooking the gardens and the pool, situated beautifully below the house and offering more superb views over the Val di Chiana. Shaded pergolas by the main house and the pool provide the perfect setting for convivial meals or a restorative siesta. Further still, there are olive groves and woods to explore.
For a little local color, you'll adore nearby Cortona, one of Tuscany's gem towns, ringed by its original walls and rich in historic atmosphere, quality stores and great dining choices. It’s an 8km drive or just a 2km walk on the footpath through the estate, part of the original Roman road!
About a 10-minute walk away, on the other side of the same estate is Villa Sandrelli, which can sleep another 6 people — an ideal option for two families or groups of friends who want to vacation together, but also value their own privacy. There is also a limonaia (winter garden/conservatory) suitable for a party for up to 32 guests, and a chapel available for hire, which would make a delightful wedding venue.
