Cozy villa close to medieval town

Il Lauro (meaning ‘bay leaf tree’) is a typical 18th century Tuscan farmhouse lovingly restored and filled with the owner’s personal treasures and antiques – all carefully chosen to blend with Il Lauro’s authentic rustic ambience.

At the heart of the house, the kitchen features an open fireplace and cozy sitting area. From here, step through an 18thC door into the dining room, with its impressive arched doorway leading out to the covered terrace area and surrounding gardens. In fact, all the rooms on the ground level have access outside through beautiful French doors.

You can make your way upstairs to a covered loggia with comfortable seating, perfect for reading or taking in the lovely sunsets and views of Città della Pieve. The long and spacious living room  -- which used to be the kitchen -- has welcoming couches and another open fireplace. When combined with the heated terracotta tiles in the kitchen, this villa's details serve to make it a cozy retreat year-round.

Surrounded by woods, olive groves and hedges and only 15 minutes walk to the nearest medieval town, Il Lauro offers a truly authentic Tuscan experience for those who wish to sample la dolce vita.

We had a great time in Italy and our highlight was our Local Host and Il Lauro. We loved our week spent in Sarteano visiting the many hill towns and relaxing at the villa.
