Conde Nast Traveller Villa Specialist

Our Senior Villa Specialist, Lauren Bunton, has been recognized again (fourth year in a row!) as one of the top Villa Rental Specialists by Conde Nast Traveller. Below is some of our guests' feedback about Lauren's ability to plan uniquely outstanding villa vacations, every time.

"Lauren, quelle superbe voyage!! Our week at la Paisible was magnificent. Maribeth made it so perfect for us. She really put so much time and effort into making our stay fantastiic and beyond! I don't know how we could have connected with anyone better! And thank you so much for all the many coordinating efforts and hard work before the trip. (By the way, we loved the basket within and without that you and Maribeth gave us!). I want to email Maribeth to thank her and am not sure I have her email, so thank you for getting me that when you can. I have been bragging about our Canadien travel agency to everyone! We can't wait to go again!" --  Dottie

"Lauren, What a wonderful trip! We really enjoyed ourselves. The house was perfect. Bruno was helpful, friendly and welcoming. We really have only great memories to report. Thanks for making everything work for us on this end. Thanks again, we can't wait to return!" --  Laurie

"We're back from our trip and pleased to report that Chateau de Queynac was fabulous. The house was truly lovely and the setting was exactly what we had hoped. This was an important family trip, celebrating my father's 75th birthday and it surpassed my expectations in every way. We had outstanding support from Jackie, our local host, throughout our stay. Perigord was enchanting -- we ate our body weight in foie gras and spent warm summer afternoons canoeing down the Dordogne with the kids. We picked Chanterelle mushrooms in the old-growth forest where we picnicked with Alistair after seeing the amazing polychromatic cave paintings at the Font de Gaumes. I could go on and on. I'm not sure it gets better than that. Again, thank you so much for all of your help and support in preparation for the trip. The restaurant reservations were perfect -- Vieux Logis was terrific and the other local restaurants recommended by Jackie were charming. Can't wait until next year. We're just debating which other home we rent from you! After renting two homes now from your company, I am truly impressed not only by the wonderful support you provide, but by the exceptional standard of the homes you rent. Clearly, by working with you we are ensured the highest standard in homes and local support. La Cassetta in Italy was amazing and now Chateau de Queynac has almost outdone it, if that were possible. I'd be interested in hearing your recommendations for us for next Summer, knowing the homes we have loved so far." -- Guita Griffiths

Architectural Digest - where it all began

Condé Nast Traveler magazine has labeled us “top villa agents” four years running.  The Robb Report says our properties are “beautiful and historic extensions of the regions.” Business Week claims we “can make anyone’s dream vacation come true.”

It is gratifying to be recognized as industry leaders in luxury villa travel by the likes of Travel & Leisure, Forbes, Architectural Digest, Virtuoso Life, Traditional Home, the Wall Street JournalCNN and the New York Times among many others.

Established in 1990, Hosted Villas was the first company to offer high-end, fully hosted villa vacations, specifically for North America travelers. It all began as a Butterfield & Robinson programme in the early 90’s, when they decided to run some of their classic European cycling programs based out of two private chateaux. The positive response to this style of trip was compelling, and indicated that there was a gap in the industry that could be filled by providing a fully hosted, luxury villa experience for travelers who did not want to get on a bike every day. And so, our broader luxury villa experience was born under the Homes Away brand.

We started small - in our first season we featured 10 properties in three regions of France and had just four Local Hosts. In 1995 we added the  always popular destination of Italy and in 2000 we moved into Spain.  In 2007 we rebranded the business as Hosted Villas and today, we are working with 100+ properties throughout nine regions in four countries in Europe, and have a European team of approximately 30 Local Hosts.

Since then, we have planned countless trips in some of Europe's most authentic and beautiful regions, and have worked diligently to ensure that each of our guests experience the unique and completely customized villa vacation of their dreams. Our effort has been rewarded with media and industry acclaim across various platforms and we are fiercely proud of this recognition, while simultaneously understanding that there is always more work to be done. Please take a look  through our media archives to learn more about Hosted Villas and to see what has been said about us over the years - starting with the 1996 Architectural Digest article, where it all began.
