Provence: a land like none other
My name is Annemieke van Doorn and it is almost 8 years ago that my husband and I decided to leave Holland for the lovely Provence region in France. Together with our two boys, we haven’t regretted this step one single day. We love living between the olive groves, the vineyards and the lavender fields and live the real French life. Nothing is more relaxing than sitting down in our backyard under the olive trees after a hard day of work, with a good glass of Ventoux wine and the sound of the “cigales”.
My love for Provence is nearly indescribable!
My Perfect day in Provence...
If I had to pick one perfect day in the Provence, it would be a day in July when the Avignon Theatre festival arrives. Every year throughout the month of July, this theater festival hosts artists from all over the world. The whole city is turned up-side down and there are performances everywhere - in the small theaters as in the streets. The best you can do is go to the city late in the afternoon, find a nice spot on a terrace, order a drink and a little snack and watch all the theater groups go by. It is like one big parade. This is a happening that is worthwhile for both grown-ups and children and it goes on from the afternoon till late in the evening. The atmosphere in town during this festival is indescribable, and you have to go there at least once in your life!
