A Concierge Tells. A Local Host Shows.

Imagine a vacation abroad with a friendly, knowledgeable Local Host who understands your passions, desires, and interests. Someone who can give you a vacation experience customized especially for you.

Our Local Hosts are what truly set us apart from the rest. They aren’t just the typical on-site concierges. They don’t just serve as your guides, we think of our Local Hosts as so much more. Using the itineraries you created with your Experience Manager, our Local Hosts get to really know and build relationships with our guests so they can serve as more of a friend in the area. They are in essence your guide, concierge, translator, trouble-shooter, and they guarantee that your Hosted Villas stay will be nothing short of brilliant, every time.

Elizabeth, Tuscany, Italy

“If I only had 24hrs to spend in Tuscany I would start with breakfast at the villa where a driver would pick us up, winding through the scenic roads with its cypress trees and rolling hills, to visit a historical town, its museums, and archeological rests. In the afternoon, we would stop off at a biologic farm and enjoy a nice lunch made with their products, followed by a quick visit to a famous Brunello winery where they play Mozart to the vines. In the late afternoon, we would return to the villa for a massage around the pool and aperitif on the porch. Sitting and watching the sunset over the valley or lake with a prosecco we would make our way to a starred restaurant near town or enjoy a meal at the villa that the chef had cooked. Perhaps my favourite, Pici al sugo di anatra(fat roll hand made spaghetti with duck sauce ) with aglione (garlic and tomato) sauce.”

Jessica, Umbria, Italy

“By living in Italy, I can help people dive right into the local lifestyle. By opening up my own life here in Italy, I can only hope to give our guests an insider’s view that they would normally not get on any other trip. The challenge lies in making a guest feel like a true friend and local. Come along while I go to the super market or the butcher, visit my friend the ceramist, dine out with a special menu only for you – these are the simple things that make the Hosted Villas vacations exceptional.”

Valeria, Rome, Italy

“Rome has over 900 churches. Not only are they masterpieces themselves, but some of them treasure priceless artwork of Italian artists. Give yourself a day to walk and explore these hidden secrets. Head towards Termini station to see the stunning mosaics of the Basilica Papale di Santa Maria Maggiore and the Basilica di Santa Prassede. From there, visit the Basilica di San Pietro in Vincoli to admire Michelangelo’s Moses statue. Stop for lunch in the Monti neighborhood, in Via Urbana, for a taste of local gourmet sandwiches at Zia Rosetta or Tricolore. Walk on one of Rome’s most evocative streets, Via dei Fori Imperiali, that goes from the Colosseum, through the Roman Forum and ends at Piazza Venezia. Head to the Roman temples at Largo di Torre Argentina where Julius Caesar was killed. Close to the Pantheon is the Basilica di Santa Maria Sopra Minerva where you can see a famous elephant sculpture designed by Bernini and Michelangelo’s Christ the Redeemer statue. Finish your day by admiring Caravaggio paintings in two churches, Chiesa di San Luigi dei Francesi and Basilica di Santa Maria del Popolo. Reward yourself with an aperitivo at Bar Rosati in Piazza del Popolo.”

Trudy, Anguilla, British West Indies

“Your day would start off by waking up early in the morning and catch a boat ride to Prickly Pear, one of Anguilla’s off shore cays. The island is uninhabited, has no electricity and they take everything on and off the island by speed boat every day. You would relish eating some delicious fresh local crayfish and then spend the rest of the day swimming and snorkeling off the powder-white beach. No doubt you and your family would have a drink or two at the tiny bar on the beach. Then you would head home and have a little rest (all that fresh air and sun makes you tired) before heading out for an evening of entertainment in Sandy Ground Village. Enjoy supper in one of the many restaurants and then on to The Pumphouse or Elvis Beach Bar to listen (and dance) to some live music from one of our many local bands until the wee hours.”

Mia, Dalmatia, Croatia

“In the morning you will have breakfast on the terrace of your luxury villa while taking in the stunning view of the sea. After, you will be picked up and taken to the docks where your Captain will take you out onto the crystal blue waters. He will take you around some of the most famous Croatian islands and you will discover hidden bays, breath- taking views, and local fishing spots. Get dropped off on the island of your choice and walk the town, visit the markets and dine on a fresh fish meal which was just swimming mere hours before. Go back onto the boat and enjoy the sun while your Captain continues to ferry you and your group around the islands. Once you feel up to it, he will take you to a private winery located on one of the islands where you will be treated to a wine tasting and learn about the unique differences of Croatian wines. After you had your fill of wine, you will be taken back to your villa where a local chef has been preparing an authentic Croatian meal. Relax around the villa as the smells of spices make their away out of the kitchen and into the surrounding area calling you to the table. After dinner, enjoy a nice bottle of wine you picked up from the winery and enjoy the cool evening of the Croatian coast as the stars begin to come out one by one.”

Stjepan, Dalmatia, Croatia

“Your perfect day starts with a breakfast by the sea, sitting and breathing in the fresh sea air just in front of the villa. A day is not perfect without a boat ride – the captain of a yacht would pick you up at the villa and take you for an island hopping adventure. Spending a few hours exploring caves and snorkeling around the island of Vis makes you perfectly hungry for lunch and the Budikovac island. There is a retired captain living there, with his own vineyard and freshly caught fish and lobster each day – no menu, just whatever is fresh that day – you just sit and enjoy the best food from the Adriatic. After a day of island hopping, as you return to the villa a private chef would wait for you. After pairing a bottle of an exquisite Croatian sparkling wine with the most amazing sunset view, you would enjoy an intimate dinner at the terrace to end your perfect day.”
